In the city of Bolzano we noticed cars parked up on the side, off the road where pedestrians would normally walk, also some streets would have cars parked down the center of the street with cars going either direction on each side. Crazy!
I think we have decided that when we get to Verona we will take trains to visit other cities, rather than drive. The highway seems ok, just don't want to deal with cities.
Well, no accident to report, don't know what that was all about that held us up an hour, but back on the road to get lost in Verona trying to find our B&B. That probably took us another hour. Finally, we found it! What a relief, until we found this!
Yep, no one home and a locked gate. After waiting for an hour we finally decided to try to find someone to call for us since we don't have a phone. Monte found a convent and a nun who spoke no English but he was able to sign language for her to call. Got a hold of our host who didn't speak English and he handed the phone to his wife who did. So, they say they'll be here in 20 min. You hear people say almost everyone speaks English..NOT!
Not the day we would have planned, but we are here safely, and we have a place to lay our head, something we were not sure of a few minutes ago!
Well, Marco finally showed up! Really nice guy, so nice we let him off the hook! He showed us all around and where to park to walk into the old town of Verona. Unfortunately, Paige did end up getting sick today ( we blame the guy on the plane) so by the time we got there, Paige was too sick to feel like going into the city. Marco took us to a pharmacy to get her some medication. Hopefully tomorrow she will feel more like exploring.
This is a picture of Paige while Marco was showing us where to park. She put on a good face even though she was too sick to anything but sleep after this photo. So sad for her, Verona was her highlight of this whole trip. Hopefully, she 'll feel better tomorrow.
