Last day Lake Como

I find it interesting that every place we have stayed has had keys that fit both the inside and outside of your bedroom door, so you could lock someone inside. Our current place has keys that are from many years ago, the kind you think of from old movies or something, but have never really seen or used. Also, no change of towels or making beds etc. Although, we make the beds anyway. But even after four nights I was surprised we didn't get a change of towels. In Lake Como we did get a top sheet, and in Verona we did get a regular pillow, but I kind of prefer the down comforter and pillow to the more American bed set. It is fun to have all these differences.

We had our cooking class today. It was really fun! It lasted from about 10:00 until about 5:00. We learned how to make pasta, filling for tortellini, gnocchi, with gorgonzola cheese sauce, and risotto with mushrooms and raspberries. There were 15 people in all. We drank lots of wine and ate each item prepared. Monte had a great time too. Paige was feeling better, still not well, but better and enjoyed herself as well. The "treacherous" ride was not bad at all going up the mountain to the restaurant. There were gorgeous views of Lake Como. Later in the day we ate more gelato, Paige and I had some bruschetta, and Monte more gelato. It is amazing that it stays light well past 9:00 and is a darker dust by about 10:00, so we sat and enjoyed our view until then, the last couple nights.

We have had fantastic weather so far on this trip. It has rained a bit. Many places it has rained at night or for an hour or two during the day, but I think we have only been caught in rain twice and we were prepared with our raincoats or umbrella. Hopefully we will continue to be so lucky!

This photo was taken about 9:30pm!

Off to Switzerland tomorrow. We are considering doing some laundry before we head out since it will probably costs us 4 X as much there than here. Too many olive oil/gelato stains to do by hand, plus it seems like our clothes take forever to dry, and I'm sure it is cooler in the alps. It has been probably upper 70's in Italy. Very nice! A great relaxing trip so far. And Monte was worried i'd have every minute planned!

We will miss Italy!
