La villa, italy

After a nice morning in such a quaint little village we where off to Italy. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Apparently, people pass you within your single lane, even when cars are occupying the opposite oncoming lane! And motorcycles like to pass with such confidence you really don't think they'll get back into their own lane before you hit, but somehow they do!

This is another very small village with stunning views. Huge, sharp, rocky mountains jet up high with what looks like steep hilled manicured golf courses below, and thick forest. We sit in the valley below, looking ip at this magnificent sight.

Monte and I sit on our balcony listening to all the birds sing, then the church bells chime. Amazing! As we leave for dinner we see all the locals walking home from their church service. Village life is so different.

We are on the 3rd floor and Paige has her own room on the 4th. Both with balconies and fantastic views. Paige feels like she has her own apartment and hopes she never has to leave!

Another relief that Monte speaks German. Our host here doesn't speak English, but she speaks a bit of German. Same with our waitress last night. We had great pizza at a local restaurant. Here, pizza is per person, not for a group. The eating experience was about 2 1/2 hours long! Very fun, great food. Paige had ham pizza, Monte's was anchovies and capers, mine was vegetable - eggplant, bell pepper, onion, and walnuts. They have olive oil to pour over your pizza, plain or spicy. Very good. Then Paige and Monte had Italian cake, Tarimasu and I had the "Digestives". Now, you have to understand that Digestives are only taken for health reasons, and I want to have good health, that is the only reason I went ahead and drank my cognac! I forgot that in a lot of Europe the waitress carries a "wallet" and you pay your bill directly to her. So different than home.

Two nights, two countries, two firm but comfortable beds with individual down comforters, two bath tubs with shower handles, and all very, very clean. In two days we have racked up a load of laundry which is hung all over the bathroom. Normally, we would try to re- wear things a bit, but after beer spilling and melted chocolate getting on our clothes, we couldn't wait. But, this morning the clothes appear to be as wet as last night. We are in the mountains! We may have to take them down to the "sauna and then over to the relax room". I bet they would dry there. We also would love to go, but since there is a language barrier, we are not sure if clothes are optional or not. We hate to go and find it is a co- ed, no clothes experience, especially with a daughter coming along!
