So, it is pretty cool that I can begin my blog at 35,000 feet or whatever this is. We have been flying for about 1 1/2 hours now. So far so good. Paige fell asleep in the car on the way to airport and now has her blow up pillow and is out cold again. Monte is out too.
Just got dinner, not bad especially with the wine and cheese! I think AirBerlin likes to give out gifts. Coming on we got a newspaper, followed by candy, then of course our pillow and blanket, and then a little gift bag of ear plugs, a mask, toothbrush/paste, and socks! All is great as long as the German guy behind me is suffering from only allergies...lots of sneezing, coughing, blowing! Even got to watch Friends in German.
It's getting better and better...they just asked if I wanted a Bailey's or Brandy? I chose Bailey's, and in fact, I chose two since hubby doesn't drink!
And to think we are now only 2:45 into the flight, what is coming next?
Only 7 1/2 hours to go, a 4 hour layover, a 1 1/2 hour flight, and a 2 1/2 hour drive, if we don't get lost. No big deal...here they come with more Bailey's!!
Ok, so it is now 10:30 pm our time and about 6:30 am German time. We just finished two less than exciting movies, and then I thought I'd get a bit of sleep before we land in three hours. But, the Germans are interesting people. They started opening the windows to very bright morning sun, and keeping them open with light streaming on their faces as well as the rest of us. Now I understand the sleep masks! Funny how everyone seems to have such patience with one another. I just want to scream, " Shut the window so we can sleep", but everyone sits quietly not seeming to be irritated at all. Also interesting, not once in my 4 bathroom stops have I once found a toilet seat up, and it has been clean too. Well, I guess I'll read my book, no sleep for us!

Well,we finally made it! I suppose one of the most interesting things was not sleeping for 30 hours and driving on the German Autobahn! It is a two lane road, right line for slow, left lane for insane! Cars would fly by going 150 mph just like you were sitting still. Then, it gets interesting when the speed goes from super fast to moderately fast to slower, back up to super fast. That's how it is easy to get tickets.
We checked onto our cute B &B and took a walk to town to find dinner. How fun to sit with the locals who don't speak English. They sit and talk and drink beer, laugh and then smile at us. A tiny little place, may hold 15 maybe 20 people if it were packed. The owner very nice and engaging, with some ok English. These are the times we are happy Monte speaks German so we can communicate much better in his German, than with her English. Great food! Yum! I had goulash, Monte steak, and Paige had potatoes with ham and cheese. All excellent, then chocolate cake for dessert. I fogot how much you are suppose to tip, so I think we left 5€, but we'll have to figure that out. I know Monte felt so bad, but as the locals were toasting with us, Monte some how knocked over his glass (of non- alcohol beer) the glass broke and spilled all over Paige! That woke us all up! But, what can you expect without sleeping for 30 hours! Times like that your glad you brought three pairs of pants. We'll have to wash them in the sink at some point, when we can dry them for days at a time. For me, i only got one leg wet, so figure i'll let them dry, might make me smell good! We walked back through town to go home and sleep. What a quaint village, so cute. Paige really wants to stay longer.

Here I am at 5:00 am, awake and jumped out of bed. It may take time to shut off my mind and relax. I'm out on the balcony looking at the mountains as type this, so beautiful. I probably should be asleep like my family, I may regret it later. It just so hard to not get going and see everything! So fun!
Had a great night sleep ...love those German beds! Soft but firm with the down comforter, no sheets, just covered down, and a huge square down pillow. Great! The shower, a bit more interesting! Basically a tub with a hand held shower head, hard to keep that water in the tub!

I'm jealous!!! The mountains are amazing!! Other than losing some sleep, your flight sounds about as painless as it can be. So far so good! Keep it coming!
