Rain was forcasted for most of the day in Slovenia as well as Zell am See so I was apprehensive about our scenic drive. We could go straight to Zell in about 2:45 or the scenic route of about 4:00. We have had such good luck missing the rain, so we decided to go for it. It turned out beautiful! I think we are bringing California with us!
On our drive we noticed these large canisters at the end of driveways to houses in the country. Then we noticed a large truck stopping in front of these canisters that said "milk" in German. We decided that these are farmers and the milk man was picking up their milk after they collected it from the cows. Very cool!
We stopped in the high mountain village of Heiligenblut. They had a beautiful cemetery.
Then we continued up the alps to the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. I'm not sure but I think it is a famous road that has been in commercials....?
This is Zell am See...
Our Irish host, Eugene, is quite hilarious, and the quintessential Irishman who likes a pint or two. In fact, after he learned about Bart following us around, (and he did indeed followed us here), Eugene got a picture of him for us! See, he is on that mountain!
We went to town for an authentic Austrian dinner. Our walk to town is about 10 minutes, but also on a steep hill so we drove.
We parked in a parking garage only to come back and find this!
After a slight panic we learned that the doors do open when you exit! That was a bit scary!
