Ramsau am Dachstein , Austria, July 9

We enjoyed breakfast with some people from Hungary this morning.  Of course, Monte with "his way" got us an invitation to visit with them if we ever go to Hungary!

This morning we headed to the alpine zip line....but they are not running due to wind. A little breezy here but I guess it is bad up higher in the mountain. We'll give that a try tomorrow.

So, off we went to the Austrian "rollercoaster". It was a fun ride and Paige enjoyed it so much she went twice.

We took a lift up the mountain for a bit of hiking and views. Gorgeous! Views were amazing!! I thought I might try the gondola ride sitting on top of the gondola ( yep, they have that!) going up to the Dachstein glacier, even thought I would push myself to do the suspension bridge...but just this chair lift scared me and ruined me for Dachstein, I think....

Every direction you turn there are beautiful mountains, and the pictures don't do it any justice!

After our chairlift we noticed a vending machine...selling water, ice tea, and beer!

We had hoped to see the Dachstein glacier today but we made a mistake by using our one free lift on the chairlift, so now we need to wait on Dachstein until tomorrow. But that's ok. We stopped for coffee. It was 62 degree with a slight wind so we were layered up. It felt like the 50's. But, outside the coffee house they were selling ice cream and a little girl was in her shorts eating a nice cream cone! Here we were all bundled up and in the coffee house we felt pretty...over dressed, literally! We enjoyed our coffee. As we exited, we noticed an older guy working a cash register at a small store drinking a beer on the job! Gotta love it!

Next we took a hike near our B & B. The air is crisp, clean and just gorgeous views.

We closed the night with out British hosts and their family visiting from England all going to dinner and watching traditional Austrian/German dancers. Great fun!

And... Monte and Paige taking the slide down from the restaurant 2 floor to the first!

I just love the beds here. The mattresses are really firm everywhere in Europe, and I'm getting to like them. And, I love the alpine wood and cozy feel all these B & B's seem to have in all the alp regions. What I don't like the the rough toliet paper! I think you could sand wood with it! And it has been everywhere!

Another thing that has been with us everywhere is Bart. He is a fly, usually the only one, that seems to join us for every meal we have. We are thinking he came from California and thinks he is on this trip with us because he is at every stop, and every meal!
