Munich, Germany July 16

Our last day we began with a breakfast on the deck of our B & B in Zell am See. Looks to be warm, sunny day, wish we didn't have to leave!

We took to the road towards Munich but couldn't resist taking pictures of the great views as we drove.

We were surprised by how many mountains are right around Munich.

Monte's favorite sign:  NO SPEED LIMIT

We stopped for a quick bathroom break and Paige said the Mc Donald's had candles and flowers in the bathroom.

We arrived and walked around the city center. We didn't have that much time so we didn't have any big agenda, just see the area and go to the famous HB Haus (Hofbrauhaus). Then we were going to sleep closer to the airport for our early morning flight home.

Monte got his last bratwurst!

And the coolist thing: we got to sit with some old Germans (one who spoke only a bit of English) and drink beer at the HB haus! They have a reservation every Wednesday at 12:00 and stay until after 4:00 drinking beer and having their mid meal together. They have been doing this of for 15 years now. They were very gracious to let us join them. We all had a good time together!

I got what I wanted.....no, not the men...the beer and pretzel!

Ok, so we ate a lot today and it wasn't yet dinner time but we also were not going to miss any meal. We went to a nearby restaurant for our last dinner of our trip.....delicious again!

What a fabulous trip! We enjoyed every country, every experience, and have memories to last a lifetime!

Zell am See, Austria, July 15

Yesterday we made the reservation, and today is day! We were hoping for clear skies...it was a GO!

Monte and Paige both made the jump...about a 6,000 foot ride! Amazing!!

Yeah, I would have done it, yeah, sure I would, but they needed a person to drive the pickup van...that was scary enough for me trying to figure out where I was suppose to go, with a stick shift, in Austria, in someone else's car, and a guy telling to just go the the circle on the map, " just there, it's easy"....if it weren't for Delores....

A well derserved treat...

Beautiful lake.....

Cute town...

A beautiful view from our B & B

Drinks before dinner. A pint or two for us, a pint or 4 for the Irishman.

Our fabulous dinner

Our crazy Irish host!

A great day in Zell am See!

Zell am See, Austria July 14

Today was mostly a travel day. We finished our stay in Slovenia with the BEST breakfast ever in a B&B. Each morning we have had sweet cakes, cereal with all kinds of toppings: seeds, trail mix, fruit, eggs to order, grilled vegetables, all kind of meats, bread, yogurt....I can not even name everything!

Rain was forcasted for most of the day in Slovenia as well as Zell am See so I was apprehensive about our scenic drive. We could go straight to Zell in about 2:45 or the scenic route of about 4:00. We have had such good luck missing the rain, so we decided to go for it. It turned out beautiful! I think we are bringing California with us!

On our drive we noticed these large canisters at the end of driveways to houses in the country. Then we noticed a large truck stopping in front of these canisters that said "milk" in German. We decided that these are farmers and the milk man was picking up their milk after they collected it from the cows. Very cool!

We stopped in the high mountain village of Heiligenblut. They had a beautiful cemetery.

Then we continued up the alps to the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. I'm not sure but I think it is a famous road that has been in commercials....?

This is Zell am See...

Our Irish host, Eugene, is quite hilarious, and the quintessential Irishman who likes a pint or two. In fact, after he learned about Bart following us around, (and he did indeed followed us here), Eugene got a picture of him for us! See, he is on that mountain!

We went to town for an authentic Austrian dinner. Our walk to town is about 10 minutes, but also on a steep hill so we drove.

We parked in a parking garage only to come back and find this!

After a slight panic we learned that the doors do open when you exit! That was a bit scary!
