Yippeee!!! Off on our Ireland adventure.
We flew SFO to Dublin. We found a convenient way to park using Sky Park. You drive up, get out of your car and onto their shuttle and off you go to the airport 10 min away. Then, once you arrive back you call the company and they have your car waiting for you when you get off the shuttle. We'll, that is if you put you ticket in place you might find it again :-)
We had a nice flight on Air Lingus ($50 each RT, yep, learning how to gain those miles!) We decided we could land and drive like we have on most trips, but after getting off the flight and waiting for the shuttle to pick up the car, then waiting for the car, we were getting tired. Monte is quite the man! We headed out, driving on the left, into the Wicklow Mountains. It was suppose to be about 1 1/2 hour drive. As we headed off the main highway and onto small, intense roads, we got very tired and Monte pulled over to take a quick nap. Turns out it took much longer than we were expecting.
Our first real view of Ireland from a side road during out nap.
We finally arrived to our first destination in Roundwood. It was gorgeous! What a view from our room!
After a another nap and shower, we were ready to experience our first pub. Roundwood is a village of about 950 people. Such a cute Irish village, and a super fun pub. It is an original house build in the 17th Century and then made into a pub. No music, no tourists, just locals meeting up, eating and drinking. A fun, authentic Irish experience! And great food!
The end of day one, with more views!
